It's "Autumn of a crop" and "autumn of an appetite"
season again, and the mountains of "Kyoto" have begun
to turn red and yellow little by little. At the same time, Salone
del Gusto and Terra Madre held in Turin in October 2004.
For this event, Mr.Tokuoka Kunio of Arashiyama Kitcho who is
an advisor of Kyoto Slow Food and Mr. Nagasawa Genichi who is
member of Kyoto Slow Food were invited. Mr.Tokuoka's demonstration
is expected to as the first opportunity to introduce the real
Japanese Cuisine to Italy.
We, at Kyoto Slow Food, are a great honor and very happy that
Mr. Tokuoka and Mr.Nagasawa of our member are chosen for the
first time as a Japanese food representative, and being possible
to participate in this event.
The Salone del Gusto, the world’s largest quality food and wine
fair, held very two years at the Lingotto Exhibition Center
in Turin, is provide a unique opportunity to enjoy the fare
of foreign top quality food producers, gastronomic specialties
and rare or endangered dishes from different parts of the world
prepared and presented by local chefs.
Slow Food’s most recent and innovative initiative is Terra Madre,
World Meeting of Food Communities, held in Turin in October
2004, it's the first time, a forum for all those who seek to
grow, raise, catch, create, distribute and promote food in ways
that respect the environment, defend human dignity and protect
the health of consumers.
We believed that the desire to the true one reached across borders
to other nations though the language barrier exists. We wish
this participation for this event is a cultural bridge between
not only Kyoto but also the Slow Food organization all over
the world, and our dream and desire.
We wish sincerely to express our gratitude to Mr. Tokuoka and
Mr. Nagasawa who gave a lot of dreams and courage to us, and
people who got a lot of cooperation and understanding from the
stage of the preparation.
